A lot of the Utah clients I work with look successful from the outside: steady job, good family, the right answers when someone asks how they are. Underneath that they feel stuck, anxious, or numb. If that is you, nothing has gone wrong with you. Your nervous system has simply been working overtime for a long time.

My approach here is strengths-based: you are not a list of problems to fix. You are someone whose resilience has already carried you a long way, and we build on that while we work with the trauma and patterns underneath the overwhelm.

Faith is part of life for a lot of people in Utah, and it shows up in therapy in all kinds of ways. Whether your faith is a steady source of strength, something you have stepped away from, or something you have complicated feelings about, it is welcome in the room. You will not be judged for where you have landed, and I will not push you toward a particular answer.

The work

How I help clients heal

Trauma-focused therapy

We gently work with the experiences your body still carries, at a pace that you can handle.

A strengths-based approach

You're not a list of problems to fix. We build on the resilience that's already gotten you this far.

Nervous-system regulation

You'll learn to recognize and settle the anxiety, over-alertness, and shutdown underneath the overthinking.

Boundary work

Together we practice saying no, asking for what you need, and letting other people carry their own feelings.

Seeing the pattern

We name the relational loops you keep landing in, so you can finally choose something different.

Tools that work

Together we identify coping strategies that actually work for you, and find ways to put them to use in your life.

Statewide by video

A trauma therapist for anyone in Utah

I work with clients throughout Utah by secure video, from the Salt Lake City and Provo areas to the rest of the state.

Because sessions are virtual, you can work with me from anywhere in Utah, whether you live in a major city, a suburb, or a rural area. What matters is that you're physically inUtah at the time of our session.

Fees & insurance

Insurance & fees for Utah clients

I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, Blue Cross Blue Shield for Utah clients. If you have one of these plans, your sessions may be largely covered, and we can verify your benefits together so you'll know what sessions will cost.

Prefer to pay privately? That's welcome too.

  • $145 per 50-minute session.
  • Out-of-network benefits may apply, and many clients get partial reimbursement.
  • I provide a superbill on request to submit to your insurer.

Prefer to keep insurance out of it? Private pay means your care stays between us, with no diagnosis required for a third party. Out-of-network benefits may still apply, and I can provide a superbill on request.

Questions

Online therapy in Utah: your questions answered

How does online therapy work?

We meet by secure, HIPAA-compliant video at a scheduled time, just as we would in an office, only you join from wherever you feel most comfortable and private. You get a link, click it at your appointment time, and we talk. Most people find it feels natural within the first few minutes.

Is telehealth therapy actually effective?

Yes. Research consistently finds that virtual therapy is comparable to in-person care for anxiety, depression, and trauma. For many people it is actually easier to open up from their own space, and removing the commute makes it far more sustainable to keep going.

Can I work with you if I live in a different city than you?

Absolutely. Because sessions are virtual, you can work with me from anywhere in Maryland, Virginia, or Utah: a major city, a quiet suburb, or a rural area. What matters is that you are physically located in one of the states where I am licensed at the time of our session.

Is virtual therapy secure and private?

Yes. Sessions are held over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I ask that you join from a private space where you won't be overheard, and I treat everything we discuss with the same confidentiality as in-person care.

Do you take insurance?

It depends on your state. In Maryland I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford. In Utah I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you're using insurance we can verify your benefits together, so you'll know what sessions will cost. If you're paying out of pocket, you can check with your insurer before we get started to get an idea of what they'll cover. In Virginia I work on a private-pay basis and can provide a superbill you submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What are your rates?

My fee is $145 for a 50-minute session, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill on request.

Not in Utah?

I also see clients across Maryland and Virginia.
